Street Lighting: Fixing Faults
Making sure the lights are on all over Bournemouth
We look after more than 20,000 streetlights, signs and bollards to reduce the risk of accidents at night. All electricity used to power the street lighting in Bournemouth comes from renewable resources.
We carry out night time inspections once every 28 days, to check that streetlights and illuminated signs are operational.
Report a problem
If you see a broken, flickering or damaged street light, illuminated sign or bollard:
- Before you get in touch, please check the road name and the street light number. This number is usually found on the streetlight column about five or six feet off the ground.
- Report online or call 01202 451199 if it's an emergency.
- During office hours we aim to attend site within 2 hours.
Once we’ve assessed the fault we aim to fix it within five working days.
If there’s extensive damage or a supply cable fault, it may take another 10 to 28 days to fix.
If there’s a problem with the electricity supply, which is the responsibility of Scottish and Southern Energy plc, the repair is done done in line with OFGEM regulations.
